Hiking, camping and 4WD in the Mojave Desert, Death Valley and Eastern Sierra

These days I'm driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser on desert dirt roads instead of the 10-ton bicycle of all those years past–and then hiking from there. Things change!

I wake up at a nice campsite near the Argus Range and enjoy a morning coffee and pipe

How did I get here? I arrived well after dark last night, after the 450-mile drive from San Jose. Great place to wake up and puff on some appropriately named Dunhill Early Morning Pipe.
