Hiking, camping and 4WD in the Mojave Desert, Death Valley and Eastern Sierra

These days I'm driving a Toyota FJ Cruiser on desert dirt roads instead of the 10-ton bicycle of all those years past–and then hiking from there. Things change!

I make a last-minute, unplanned turn down the road to Kelso Dunes

I figure it won't be as chilly down at Kelso Dunes as further up the hill, thus better camping, especially important in today's dampness.
