I've had the flu the past week, but who cares! A week in western Death Valley will make me feel better. If I find myself too sick to hike, I can still drive the FJ and explore beauty and solitude that way.

I still have a bit of the flu, but I arrived here last night, despite that. Feeling too weak to hike today, but I'm well enough to drive, so I'll just enjoy Panamint Valley that way in the hope of feeling better tomorrow.

Most people drive Lippincott Road for the rugged 4WD experience, but I've decided to hike it, so I can hike the adjacent wash as well. Hopefully the 80°F day will help me sweat out any remaining fever. 7 hiking miles with about 2000 feet of elevation gain.

I drove over Hunter Mountain as a passenger with some nice folks I met during a bicycle trip nine years ago, but the Hunter Mountain part of the drive ended up being in the dark. I'll do it today in daylight with the FJ.

I'll spend the day touring and looking for a new campsite in a new area for me, and go for a walk down Marble Canyon. I've been wanting to head up this way for some time.
